Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Of course ... it is antiquated now!
When still was not as easy to see homes "equipped" with DVD players, for not to mention computers which allowed the viewing of a movie, I was given this Philips.
opening the box, in addition to the reader, I found a remote control to round shape and small size, simple and well organized, le pile ed il manuale cartaceo.
Il lettore è in metallo, di color argento; il display è grande ed i suoi led sono di un turchese intenso, quindi ben visibili al buio. Le dimensioni non sono proprio ridotte, ma nulla di eccessivo...la struttura da un senso di solidità insomma! Il che non è poco, considerando che ancora oggi si vedono dei lettori DVD che sembrano giocattoli.
Tra gli "optional" c'è la possibilità di riprodurre Foto CD, anche in sequenza automatica, e CD mp3.
Inoltre, ha una funzione che permette di simulare l'audio di un home theatre (anche se un po' alla buona, ovviamente...): sul vecchio Philips che avevo fino a un mesetto fa l'effetto era quasi disastroso, sul nuovissimo Samsung LCD HD che ho appena comprato il risultato è discreto.
Oltre alla Scart classica, per la TV, grazie alle tre entrate per i cavetti "bianco-rosso-giallo"(audio stereo/video) è possibile collegare un secondo apparecchio, magari un VCR, al lettore. Io ho provato e ha funzionato senza problemi.
Naturalmente, manca di molti extra di alcuni lettori DVD odierni: decoder DTS, masterizzatore DVD, disco rigido interno, riproduttore di Super Audio CD, lettore DivX, possibilità di leggere DVD in alta definizione, etc.
Tuttavia, questo lettore non mi ha mai dato problemi. La riproduzione è di buona qualità ed il DVD è difficile it locks. The remote is fantastic: light, good looking (as the reader), easy.
